[edit] MMS related

[edit] 1.0.8.2

  • 1.0.8.2 has a known bug in the play-now function using German language. Other languages may be affected aswell. Using this function causes MMS to crash.

Workaround: Set the following value in your /etc/mms/config:

play_now_warning,0
  • On some systems the TrueType font Vera.ttf seams to vary. This can cause MMS to display text not correctly.
  • Search function in playlist mode crash MMS when input is keyboard.

Workaround: Don't use the search funtion in playlist if you use a keyboard for input ;op

  • Using Lirc ( mms -i lirc ) causes MMS not to redraw the screen correctly if loosing and getting back focus. No workaround available at the moment (18:15, 25 March 2007 (CEST))
  • No sound in movies? Then you are using alsa, but mplayer's sound options are still configured for oss. Here's the solution:
audio_mode_5d = -afm hwac3 -ao alsa
audio_mode_5a = -channels 6 -ao alsa
audio_mode_2 = -ao alsa

[edit] Audio

[edit] Long titles problem

  • Long audio titles don't wrap arround.

This is going to change in version 1.0.8 UPDATE: fixed in 1.0.8 stable

[edit] Display problem

  • Sometimes screen looks messed up. Will be fixed in 1.0.8

UPDATE: fixed in 1.0.8 stable

  • sdl and fullscreen=true doesn't work with KDE for the mplayer.

UPDATE: fixed in 1.0.8 stable

  • Running MMS using sdl output in fullscreen + keyboard input crashes when multitasking in the situation where an external program is running. One example is starting a movie and then changing window to a terminal and in that one start a command. When the movie ends and MMS returns to fullscreen it will crash.

UPDATE: fixed in 1.0.8 stable

[edit] Navigation

[edit] Issues with navigation

  • MMS is fast, but if your environment slows MMS down and causes lags, you can't see, whether MMS is busy or not.

Work is going on on that issue. If tests show positive results, there will be an busy indicator in 1.0.8

UPDATE

  • The busy-indicator works fine in 1.0.8

[edit] Search Issues

  • Key mapping of search will be more flexible. Thanks to Lizard.

UPDATE: implemented in 1.0.8 stable (mobile and full_layout)

[edit] Music

[edit] Music stutters

  • Combinations of some active tasks let music stutter, if used together with "--enable-xine-audio".

Workaround: use alsaplayer. Adjust your config to this values:

/etc/mms/config

audio_dev = default
audio_output_type = alsa
audio_output_mode = -d

don't forget to install alsaplayer, and it's additional component. Here is a list of my alsaplayer repository, which works for me.

ii alsaplayer-alsa 0.99.76-8 PCM player designed for ALSA (ALSA output module
ii alsaplayer-common 0.99.76-8 PCM player designed for ALSA (common files)
ii alsaplayer-daemon 0.99.76-8 PCM player designed for ALSA (non-interactive ve
ii alsaplayer-gtk 0.99.76-8 PCM player designed for ALSA (GTK version)

ii libalsaplayer-dev 0.99.76-7 PCM player designed for ALSA (interface library,
ii libalsaplayer0 0.99.76-7 PCM player designed for ALSA (interface library)

UPDATE: fixed in 1.0.8 stable, Xine is the default player now.

UPDATE: alsaplayer is in 1.0.8.2 the default player again
